Frontier Veterinary Urgent care is equipped to provide in-house surgical services for pets with urgent medical needs. Additionally, our facility is connected to Midwest Veterinary Specialists, a specialized surgical and rehabilitation center. Therefore, if your companion requires surgery for certain medical conditions, they may be able to receive treatment within the same building.

Regardless of the complexity of your pet’s procedure, our team will discuss their treatment with you so you know what to expect at every step of the process. We treat every patient as if they were our own, with the utmost concern for their safety, comfort, and well-being.

Our Pet Surgery Safety Protocols

Our doctors and support staff adhere to stringent safety protocols to make your pet’s surgery as safe as possible.

These protocols include:

  • Performing pre-anesthetic blood work to screen for illness and evaluate your pet’s organ function
  • Taking chest X-rays to assess your pet’s heart and lungs
  • Carefully placing an IV catheter so our team can easily oversee the administration of fluids and medications during the surgery
  • Ensuring your pet stays warm throughout their surgery to prevent hypothermia
  • Monitoring your pet’s vitals with advanced equipment, including ECG, End Tidal CO2 monitoring, Capnography, Pulse Oximetry and Ventilator support.
  • Providing attentive post-surgical care and monitoring to make sure your pet wakes up with minimal stress and discomfort

In the days following your pet’s surgery, our team will stay in contact with you to make sure your pet is recovering fully and to answer any questions you have.
